Thom Sehnert, the patriarch of Annie Gunn’s, possesses an enthusiasm for life that is contagious, and certainly reflected in his passionate pursuit of the world’s finest food and wine and their time honored traditions. His hospitality and generosity are legendary as well as his deep respect and thankfulness for his customers and their tastes.
One simple wish has guided Jane and Thom, “We hope our food inspires a return to precious food memories and traditions which bring us all a little closer to our children, our family and our friends.”
Woven throughout is the story of Jane and Thom’s more than 36 pleasurable years together transforming their beloved Smokehouse Market and Annie Gunn’s from a vision into one of the most respected food and wine emporiums in the country welcoming folks from around the world every day. Where locals are treated like celebrities and celebrities are treated like locals.
The Annie Gunn’s and Smokehouse Market experience truly reflects Thom and Jane’s devotion to each other, their son Liam, their faith, their business, their community, their families, their friends, and loyal customers. Bringing folks together to celebrate life’s events and making life deliciously easy.

Dear Loyal Customers and Friends,
Per St. Louis County directive, as of Nov. 16th, we will be closed like all other restaurants in St. Louis County for four weeks.
The Smoke House Market will remain open during this time.
These are interesting times indeed for everyone: but “our health is our wealth” & “our family, friends, & faith” will get us through this unprecedented challenge.
As I started to write this update on such a negative and pessimistic situation,
I began actually to think about all that we have to be thankful for.
I reflected on the fact that Annie Gunn’s & the Smoke House Market are still here adapting & surviving, ready to serve you.
I started to think about all of our great, resilient employees, suppliers & how hard they have worked the last 6 months, as we try to figure out Covid and operate within our heightened safety protocols that protect the safety of our employees & our guests.
I then thought how grateful & thankful I am for all of our guests & customers that share our food.
I can’t thank you enough for your support & concern during these incredibly difficult times.
We all have been thrown a knock-out punch on how we live our lives and I want you all to know my family and I will be forever grateful for you & your support & your prayers.
Quite obviously, we are fortunate to know all of you.
All the best,
Jane, Thom & Liam
